ACKC DC opened in December 2007 as DC's first
cocoa bar. The concept, popular in cosmopolitan cities such as New
York, Paris, and Madrid, had finally made its was to Washington.
Our second location, in the Del Ray section of Alexandria, VA, opened
soon thereafter.
ACKC Cocoa Bar is a haven for the lover of
delectable hot cocoa drinks. We've named then after divas and starlets,
conjuring images of the bygone era of romance and spectacle. One
of our most favorites is The Lucy, after Lucille
Ball, of course! The Lucy's infusion of chipotle
peppers and cinnamon recalls the real Lucy's fiery persona and cinnamon-colored
hair.
Others favorites include The Liz
(Liz Taylor), infused with lavender, The Joan (Joan
Crawford), made with a shot of espresso, and The Audrey
(Audrey Hepburn), whose dark 72% chocolate sophistication is made
to be sipped, standing at the bar, one hand on the hip, lost in
far-away thoughts.
At the Cocoa Bar, we also serve a full array
of espresso and coffee drinks (using local Chesapeake Bay
Roasting Company) as well as specialty iced and frozen
drinks.
Additional featured items at the Cocoa Bar
include savory and sweet pastries and other baked products from
Bread and Chocolate Bakery and other local bakeries.
